For all of my growing up years as long as I can remember my hair was fine, limp and straight as a doornail. Unless I was sporting a trendy-in-the-80’s perm. Oh yeah. I did that.
But then one day I had a little baby boy. And oodles of hormones. And *POOF* MY HAIR WAS CURLY. At first I thought these wavy locks were delightful. The grass was no longer greener on the other side, people. Because I jumped right over that fence.
Only then, suddenly curly hair was not really the fashion and people started spending lots of money on stacked, sleek, perfectly straightened haircuts and straightening irons. And of course I needed to be like everyone else.
So for I a long while I cringed every time it rained and undid my sleek do. But I got over that. I decided to sport my once coveted curls with pride and embrace the mad hot mess of curls on my head. I slowly learned to love them.
I also, for the first time my life, grew my hair out past my shoulders and kept it. Then I got sick of it and lopped it off in the most adorable bob which I loved.
Then I grew it out again. I’m pretty non-committal when it comes to my hair.
In the midst of all that, let me just say the bobby pins have been my saving grace. And headbands. And definitely the messy bun look. So I’ve tried all kinds of fun hairbobs as I’ve finally allowed my hair to grow.
A few weeks ago I got the opportunity to work with a Lilla Rose consultant, Mary, to help her get the word out about her business. And she sent me the cutest small flexi clip and a pearl headband which I adore. My pearl earrings are my signature, after all.
The flexi is surprisingly sturdy and was easy as pie to work into my hair. Now remember my hot mess…I pulled half of it back and used the flexi to hold it. It worked great! The headband is a great way to add a little bit of “hipness” to my messy bun look and created an extra little bit of volume around my face.
I’m considering getting one of the extra large flexis to pull off my messy bun look with a little more flair. Check out this fantastic Steam Punk Flexi! If my husband would read my blog he would know what to put in my stocking. **wink wink**
I’m also planning on trying out those You-Pins and the adorable little Bobby Pins. Mary is giving away a $16 gift credit to spend as you please for her online shop through the giveaway below. Be sure to sign up in the giveaway below!
As for me… Well, I’m really hoping Santa will bring me some You-Pins,
or maybe some of those adorable Bobby Pins
So tell me (and Mary) how you would spend that $16 credit to her store. Are you a bobby-pin-aholic? or would you love to sport one of the flexi clip? (You get points in the giveaway for telling what you love!)
