There’s a reason I don’t do resolutions. Take my whole “I’ll update my blog regularly in December by sharing my Instagram pictures here” resolution. It lasted about…10 days? In fact, you can read my whole take on resolutions, goals and the “My One Word” movement over at Middle Places today. I got to kick off our theme for the new year and I’m insanely excited about the possibility it contains.
So can we just keep it real for a minute?
I’ve had a fantastic December. How about you? There was music, parties, family gatherings, and fudge. It was a beautiful, if not chaotic month. I always love December.
But I’m glad it’s done. I’m ready for routine. I relish the kickstart into January. It’s time to pack up all of the shiny, nostalgic decembery things and move on to the blank slate of January. It’s very sparseness draws me in. (Although, I kinda wish I could keep all the white lights.)
The pages of this blog have become such a happy place for me and I can’t wait to grow it in 2015. It allows me to explore my interests and share bits of my world view. It’s not a big blog and there aren’t any viral posts contained in this space of the cyberworld. But it has been a place for me to learn and grow and to experiment. And seriously…I do experiment. I try everything here before I put it onto Middle Places. In fact, I’m testing out some new social sharing buttons this week. And a new “Related Posts” plugin. It’s kind of my lab, this blog.
I had loads of fun writing my #31Days of Geekery during October and learned a lot along the way! My favorite (and probably most snarky) post was the Top 5 Things I Wish Every Blogger Knew About Pinterest. It’s blunt and direct, and to be truthful, my knowledge of Pinterest is still relatively limited since they have put out some big changes and new algorithms lately. They just want to be like Facebook.
So let’s say goodbye to the old year. Bring on 2015!
Before we go…I just have to say, I’m really glad I did the photo challenge in December. My Instagram account was a happenin’ place and I had a lot of fun connecting with you all, even if I didn’t get all of it on the blog! I found some new people to follow and gained a few new followers myself. But more importantly, I took a boatload of pictures. Probably less than half of them actually made it to my Instagram feed. And I’m grateful for the kick in the tail to create some lasting memories along the way.
Without further ado…Documenting December:
