I have a thing for pretty books. Also, for ugly books. And old books. And plain books. But especially pretty books. I know you shouldn’t judge a book by its cover, but I just can’t help myself sometimes.
Also, I love all of my friends at MOPS (Mothers of Preschoolers), so I said yes to a book review opportunity from #FLYBY for “The Biggest Story.” It meant I could peruse a gorgeous book, then pass my copy on as a door prize AND give away a copy here. Yay for all of us!
Let me tell you all about it. The Biggest Story, that is.
It opens with these lines:
Once upon a time there lived a man and a woman. They were the happiest people on the planet.
True, they were the only people on the planet, but they were still terrifically happy.
Unfortunately, things didn’t stay happy and wonderful for long…
The writer takes the foundational stories of the Old and New Testaments and paraphrases them for today’s child to understand. And the illustrations…oh my. The are full of rich color and visually fascinating. It’s recommended ages are for children 5-11, but I enjoyed the eye candy of this stunning book. My son had to take a look at it because the tagline talks about the “Snake Crusher” and you know boys can’t resist words like that.
Throughout the story, God’s redemption of man unfolds in a most beautiful way. It’s full of grace and touches of humor, and bound to be enjoyed by children of all ages. So if you’ve got kids and are a beautiful book junkie like me, go buy yourself a copy (affiliate link: The Biggest Story) and/or sign up for a chance to win your own copy from Flyby Promotions.
Part of my impulsive nature means that I don’t often keep a tight schedule. It means I get to say yes, but maybe I don’t necessarily have a plan of attack in place when I do that. Enter…two giveaways in two weeks. But who knows how long it will take for the next one to show up in my inbox? Feast or famine. So today we feast. I’m sure you won’t mind, though. Because this book is a beauty.
